About
the Club
Alaskats
is a cat club chartered by The International Cat Association
(TICA). We are a non-profit club dedicated to those
who love cats. Our group includes lovers of household
pet cats as well as pedigreed cats. Alaskats has a long-standing
tradition of promoting felines in Alaska. The club has
sponsored a Fur Rendezvous cat show since 1975.
Alaskats supports the efforts of animal rescue organizations
such as the Adopt-A-Cat Shelter (Alaska Humane Society)
and Friends of Pets. The club tries to provide free
space at our shows for these organizations to share
their information. Club members also volunteer time
and donate resources to these organizations.
The club sponsors several cat shows during the year.
Our largest show is during Anchorage's Fur Rondy Festival
each February. We have a household pet fun show during
the Eagle River Bear Paw Festival in July. During the
fall we have a full championship and household pet cat
show at locations around Anchorage. Occasionally the
club has a show in the summer in locations throughout
Alaska.
Members of Alaskats Cat Club also provide assistance
to people looking for a pedigreed cat or kitten. Responsible
pedigreed cat breeders rarely work through pet stores
to sell their animals. We know many of the breeders
in Alaska and the pacific northwest and can provide
information to help make a responsible, informed decision
about purchasing a cat and looking for responsible breeders.
While our club is small we do have a number of members
who are on-line. If you would like information on the
club you can reach us on-line:
